How to start organic gardening

Organic gardening is a comprehensive, holistic method that maintains and supports a healthy, balanced ecosystem and biodiversity without synthetic fertilizers and pesticides. It also allows crops or plants to grow naturally using alternative pest control and fertilization methods.

The first step to begin organic gardening is to prepare the soil for planting by amending it with organic matter, such as animal manure, composted plant and animal materials, and uncomposted plant materials, for some time.

Remember to prepare any supplies needed for organic gardening.

Next, select crops that are less susceptible to pests and diseases. After gaining some experience in organic gardening, it’ll be easier to switch to more demanding ones because of further insights on natural pest control.

An example of a natural pest control method is crop rotation, which relies on plant interaction on keeping pests and diseases at bay. It may require some research and familiarization with companion planting, but the results are worth it.

In the meantime, help plants or crops grow by attracting pollinators at the right time. Keep the plants healthy by leaving enough space for good air circulation, removing weeds, water properly, and fertilize regularly.
