President Marcos on Monday thanked Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez for keeping a strong and vibrant working relationship with the Palace as leader of the House of Representatives.

Mr. Marcos made the statement in a short video where he greeted Romualdez on the eve of his 60th birthday today (Tuesday).

“The House of Representatives, under your leadership, has played in our effort of nation-building, and let’s hope to keep that working relationship strong and vibrant,” the President told his cousin.

“I look forward to the years to come where we can do even more good work together,” Mr. Marcos added.

The President also teased Romualdez or “FMR” that he is looking forward to a birthday feast that will make all guests gain weight.

“On a more personal note, I’m sure that we will have a fine celebration on your birthday. I am certain that once more, you will continue to provide all the goodies and treats that are making it difficult for us to keep our weight. But that is not a complaint, that is a reminder that they’re much appreciated,” Mr. Marcos said. Charles Dantes and Maricel V. Cruz

Romualdez, for his part, thanked the President for his birthday message.

During Monday’s flag-raising ceremony, Romualdez credited the personnel of the Lower Chamber for the institution’s achievements.

“Your hard work, dedication, and resilience are the driving forces behind our remarkable achievements. Let us continue to work hand in hand, with integrity and commitment, as we steer this House towards greater heights,” he said.
