Imed, Amal al-Robayaa’s husband plays the ney, an end-blown flute popular in Persian music, amid the ruins of the family home destroyed in an Israeli strike in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip. Robayaa says the apartment block she lived in was destroyed by an Israeli bombardment on Oct. 7, the first day of the war triggered by Hamas’s attack on southern Israel. She now sleeps with other family members in a UN school in Rafah but returns to her home in the morning and face the daily struggle to find food and water. AFP
