The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) cautioned the public against unscrupulous individuals using the name of its director to deliberately hoax, mislead, and deceive the public.

“The fake social media accounts of NCRPO Director Brig. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. is circulating. We would like to inform the public that General Nartatez has no personal social network account and is not in any way connected with this fraudulent activity,” the NCRPO said in a statement.

The NCRPO is now investigating the matter and in coordination with the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group to identify and arrest the people responsible.

“We call to the public to report the account and refrain from giving in to the request and solicitation messages being sent by the accounts along with other unverified and suspicious profiles,” it stated.

The NCRPO made the statement as Nartatez led the Heroes’ Welcome and awarded medals to the 298 members of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) who were deployed to augment the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

The RMFB personnel provided the additional force to perform election-related duties such as enforcing laws, rules, and regulations, assisting election staff, and providing security to polling centers and other places of convergence in the region.
