Knorr Philippines has joined the Zero Hunger Alliance, a nationwide network of donors, implementers, volunteers, and researchers who share the vision of eradicating hunger by 2030.

Knorr Philippines officially joins the Zero Hunger Alliance, signing a Memorandum of Agreement at the sidelines of the Zero Hunger Summit held at the Ateneo De Manila University, coinciding with Philippines’ Nutrition Month.

Knorr, Unilever’s biggest food brand, teamed up with the Century Pacific Group Inc. and Gawad Kalinga Community Development Foundation Inc. fot its advocacy to build ecosystems where every family has access to nutritious food and opportunities for a healthier life.

Guided by Unilever Nutrition’s Future Foods strategy, the company is encouraging people to eat healthier diets and advocating to transform the world’s food systems to address the inequalities people face in accessing healthy food.

The Zero Hunger Alliance has developed a 5M strategy to address hunger: Magtulungan, Magpakain, Magpakalusog, Magtanim, and Mag-connect.

Magtulungan is in recognition of the magnitude of the problem of hunger and how meaningful partnerships are key to progressing against the issue. Magpakain refers to supplemental feeding for vulnerable sectors, and as an organization, ZHA aims to provide 10 million meals for 500,000 children in adopted communities by 2025.

Magtanim allows communities to supplement their nutritional needs, with ZHA aiming to help build 1,000 community food farms. Mag-connect aims to make use of the power of social media for transformational change.

“Our commitment is to be the Magpakalusog champion, focusing on Knorr’s Nutri-Sarap program as part of Zero Hunger Alliance’s holistic pillars,” said Bindoy Baltazar, Unilever Nutrition Philippines Business Lead.

In May 2023, Knorr’s global leaders Frank Haresnape, Global Vice President of Knorr & Scratch Cooking, and Niek de Rooij, Global Masterbrand Director visited a Knorr-ZHA pilot site at Paradise Heights in Tondo.

Knorr is sponsoring 600 beneficiaries for the pilot run of the ZHA framework at Paradise Heights whete 300 children will benefit from the feeding initiative while 300 adults from the community will gain access to interactive and practical nutrition education sessions.

The pilot participants will also be tending to five community farms that are expected to supplement food resources.
