Taguig City has opened its Center for the Elderly to senior citizens from “Embo” villages as part of the local government’s Transformative, Lively, and Caring program.

The center features a therapy pool, clinic, sauna and massage room, mini cinema theater, multi-purpose hall, recreational area, and rooftop garden.

It also houses the Taguig Geriatric Program, launched in partnership with St. Luke’s Medical Center, offering comprehensive health services, consultations, and evaluations by medical professionals.

Mayor Laarni Cayetano said senior citizens can have their memory, visual, and hearing skills assessed on Tuesdays, while informative lectures and forums on topics like depression, dementia, osteoporosis, and eating habits are held on Thursdays.

The center is also a space where senior citizens can experience a strong sense of community.

Bienvenido C. Gonzalez Jr., a 66-year-old resident from Barangay Pembo, expressed gratitude for the facility and its staff, stating that it was a great place to visit and help others.

Another resident Felicidad Paloma, 74, enjoyed the free massage during her time at the facility and expressed her desire to return and enjoy the amenities again.

The center is set to give a tour to other senior citizens from Barangays Rizal, East Rembo, Cembo, Post Proper Southside, Pitogo, Comembo, Post Proper Northside, South Cembo, and West Rembo in the coming days.

As the Elderly Filipino Week 2023 celebration continues, the city government is actively reaching out to Taguigueño senior citizens, including those residing in Embo (Enlisted Men’s Barrio) to participate in activities launched especially for them and avail of the city’s many free services.
