Grab Philippines said it is in talks with the Department of Transportation for the opening of temporary transportation network vehicle service (TNVS) slots to meet increased demand in December 2023.

Grab Philippines country manager Grace Vera Cruz said the ride-hailing app was working with the government since July for temporary TNVS slots or a “holiday fleet for Christmas” to avoid the shortage in the number of driver-partners on the road like what happened last year.

Grab said that in December 2022 only one of two passengers was able to book a GrabCar during the holidays. “So, Im’ hoping we have a solution within the next three to four weeks. Hopefully before November,” Vera Cruz said.

“We are expecting a log of inbound traffic … I feel we need at least 10,000 to 20,000 more. We really want to deliver a very good customer experience,” she said.
