The continuing police crackdown on illegal drugs in southern Metro
Manila yielded significant results Friday night with the arrest of two
suspected drug dealers in Muntinlupa City.

The latest anti-narcotics operation conducted at Summitville in
Barangay Putatan also resulted in the seizure of more than P3.5
million worth of shabu.

The Southern Police District (SPD) identified the suspects as James
Regonay, 37, and Dante Cleofe, 48.

The suspects are now detained and will be charged with violation of
Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the
Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

Seized from the suspects were 525 grams of shabu, a mobile phone, two
coin pouches, identification cards, drug paraphernalia, and the money
used by the authorities in the entrapment operation.

Combined elements from the Philippine National Police – Drug
Enforcement Group and Muntinlupa City Police conducted the operation
around 7 p.m. with the help from the Philippine Drug Enforcement
Agency and community leaders in Barangay Southville 3.

The entrapment under what the PNP described as the Case Operational
Plan (Coplan) was made following a week-long surveillance against the
suspects.

The seized illegal drugs were turned over to the PNP Forensic Group in
Camp Crame, while the arrested suspects were temporarily handed over
to Muntinlupa City Police for proper disposition.

SPD director Brig. Gen. Roderick Mariano commended the policemen who
initiated the operation, saying the PNP is committed to continuing
their collaboration with other law enforcement agencies to combat the
drug menace.

“We will maintain without letup our collaboration with other law
enforcement agencies so that our aggressive stance of our anti-illegal
drugs campaign will continue to cease drug menace, especially in our
area of responsibility,” he said.
