Six Philippine corporations were included in TIME Magazine’s new annual ranking of the World’s Best Companies.
Ayala Corp., San Miguel Corp., Jollibee Foods Corp.. PLDT Inc., Metropolitan Bank & Trust Co., and BDO Unibank Inc. were named among the 750 top-performing companies in the world for 2023.
The World’s Best Companies 2023 ranking, TIME said, is a comprehensive analysis conducted to identify the top-performing companies across the globe, based on a formula of revenue growth, employee satisfaction surveys, and rigorous environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG, or sustainability) data.
Conglomerate Ayala Corp. emerged as the highest-ranked Philippine company in the magazine’s list at 309 with an overall score of 83.66, followed by food and beverage conglomerate San Miguel at 347 with a score of 83.08.
Fast food giant Jollibee was ranked 421st, while telco giant PLDT placed 609th.
The two banking firms, Ty-led Metrobank and Sy-led BDO came in at 634th and 715th, respectively.
Big tech firms Microsoft, Apple, Alphabet (the company that owns Google) and Meta Platforms (formerly Facebook) were the top four companies in TIME magazine’s list.
The magazine said: “The rankings show just who dominates the world economic order, with fast-moving tech and business-services companies unseating the manufacturers and consumer-goods companies that once drove the global economy. The world’s best companies of 2023 can make things, like their forefathers did, while their employees, shareholders, and the planet profit, too.”
TIME debuted the World’s Best Companies 2023 list in partnership with Statista, a leading international provider of market and consumer data and rankings.
