PolyEast Records’ pop R&B artist Cedric Escobar is currently back in his homeland after having a productive tour for the OPM Summer Fest 2023.

Prior to his return, this talented 23-year-old singer had been making waves as an opening act for prominent OPM (Original Pilipino Music) artists such as Rivermaya, Gloc-9, Ito Rapadas of Neocolours, and Introvoys who performed in major cities in the United States and Canada.

This experience proved to be the catalyst for his own career, motivating him to explore his roots in his home country while simultaneously forging a name for himself in the music industry.

In an interview with Manila Standard Entertainment, Cedric reflected on his journey as a young artist, “Along the way, I learned to build my confidence and become a better performer.”

Initially overwhelmed by the prospect of performing alongside renowned artists, he quickly adapted and grasped the nuances of what it takes to captivate an audience. This transformation marked a significant turning point in his career.

“As a musician, I have an immense passion for performing and thrive when I’m on stage, entertaining people,” Cedric affirmed.

His aspiration is to be recognized as a complete performer, much like the legendary Gary Valenciano.

Cedric strives to embody the essence of an artist who consistently delivers outstanding shows for his audience, leaving a lasting impact with his musical prowess and stage presence. This dedication to his craft drives him to continually hone his skills and provide unforgettable experiences for his fans.

Unlike his live performances abroad doing covers before signing with PolyEast Records, wherein he just sang covers of songs by other artists, Cedric was able to finally sing his own songs on the OPM Summer Fest Tour. “I got to sing “‘di na ba” and by doing so, I’m remembered as my own musician.”

Already out with two singles “‘di na ba” and “Gasera,” we can expect more music to come from him. On September 29, he will be releasing his own rendition of Sugarfree’s “Wag Ka Nang Umiyak.”

Cedric’s latest EP, Mellow is now available on YouTube and major music platforms. It features his live renditions of OPM classics with collaborators Jem Florendo and Kiko Llorin, mixed and mastered by James Narvaez. Cedric is also part of The LiVeRARY, a PolyEast Records concept project highlighting emerging talents through live performances.
