Senator JV Ejercito reiterated his call for the Philippine Comprehensive Infrastructure Masterplan to develop a blueprint for long-term and quality infrastructure projects in the country.

“This will become a masterplan of all plans and will be complementary with the local government units. We should work hand in hand for our country to move forward,” Ejercito said at the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s legislative talk series.

He expressed hope the proposed bill would be included in the priority measures of the Marcos administration next year.

He said that as the Philippines was lagging 30 years behind its ASEAN neighbors in terms of infrastructure development, the proposed measure would serve as a roadmap for the continuity and sustainability of infrastructure projects even with the change of leadership.

Vietnam overtook the Philippines in terms of foreign direct investments. The Philippines ranked 5th in ASEAN with only $9.1 billion in FDIs last year, compared to Vietnam’s $17.89 billion.
