Baby dies, mother hurt in fire at Barangay 176 in Caloocan

A 10-month-old baby died and his mother was injured in a fire that engulfed their house in Barangay 176, Caloocan City.

The fire broke out at the house owned by the Del Monte family around 6 p.m. Tuesday and was declared fire out after one hour.

The fire spread quickly, killing the baby. The mother, Mary Ann Acmo, tried to climb onto the roof but was injured in the process.

Arson investigators are still determining the cause of the blaze. But a witness claimed it was caused by an unattended candle.

Acmo is asking for financial assistance for the burial of her child.

The Del Monte family is temporarily staying at the covered court in the barangay.
