Pauline Amelinckx gets new crown, local organization launches new pageant

While the Miss Universe pageant is still months away, there is no stopping the Miss Universe Philippines (MUP) organization from opening windows of opportunities for aspiring beauty queens and Filipino talents.

In simple ceremonies, MUP, led by national director Shamcey Supsup-Lee and creative director Jonas Gaffud, has launched the Filipino Festival and The Miss Philippines pageant, held at Crowne Plaza Manila Galeria, in Ortigas Avenue, Quezon City on Saturday.

The Miss Philippines, dubbed the newest, most innovative and modern pageant, kicked off via the official crowning of Pauline Amelinckx, Miss Supranational 2023 1st runner-up, as the inaugural The Miss Philippines queen. Henceforth, The Miss Philippines pageant will serve as a competition for the search of Miss Supranational Philippines and Miss Charm Philippines.

MUP also launched the Filipino Festival envisioned as an avenue to exhibit a range of captivating experiences that showcase the heart and soul of the Philippines. The event has a lot in store for talented Filipinos from around the world who dream of having a career in modeling, fashion, PR or acting.

“This October, grab the chance to work with Miss Universe Philippines by participating in the Filipino Festival. Experience the Philippines through delicious cuisine, captivating songs, local products, stunning fashion pieces and engaging films,” MUP said in a statement.

Meanwhile, applications to The Miss Philippines pageant is now open until August 26 (deadline) set at Enderun Coworking Estancia, Estancia Mall, South Wing, Ortigas Center, Pasig City.

Good Samaritan Queen gives meaningful support to PAWS

Beauty queen-entrepreneur Riza Oben Dormiendo donated recently to the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), through her project initiative ‘Adopt a Dog and Cat and Feeding Project,’ in cooperation with the sisterhood of Innerwheel Club (IWC) Muntinlupa Filinvest District 383.

Dormiendo, club president of IWC-D383 Muntinlupa Filinvest, stressed the importance of having pets in the family even as she called attention to the many positive effects of pets on mental health.

“Dogs and cats are the extension of the family. Let’s be the ‘voice of the voiceless.’ We can help them by giving donations, such as food, vitamins, cleaning materials and others. Let’s support animal welfare groups like PAWS by adopting and donating. Your donations will go a long way for these loveable animals,” Dormiendo said during her visit at PAWS.

Mrs. Universe Superstar’s son snags bronze in Benchrest shooting

Meanwhile, Miguel Archangel Cruz, son of retired Major Gen. Gilbert DC Cruz, the original ‘Gwapulis,’ now the undersecretary of the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC), snagged a bronze medal during the 5th World Rimfire and Air Rifle Benchrest Championships in Pilsen, Czech Republic recently.

Cruz, a 16-year-old senior high school and member of the Philippine National Shooting Association (PNSA) delegation, competed against 237 shooters from 23 countries.

Cruz’s proud mother is Pola, Oriental Mindoro mayor Jennifer Cruz (aka Ina Alegre) who represented the Philippines in Mrs. Universe 2015 in Minsk, Belarus and won as Mrs. Superstar.
