Makati Shangri-La, a five-star hotel at the corners of Ayala Ave. and Makati Ave. in the central business district, reopened Tuesday, more than two years after it shut down operations amid the pandemic.

Makati Shangri La reopens on Aug. 8, 2023

The 696-room hotel started accepting bookings for an average of P12,825.00 a night on Aug. 8, 2023.  It suspended operations in February 2021 at the height of the community lockdown designed to contain the spread of the virus.

“Everything is ready and the only thing missing is you. We can’t wait to welcome you back home,” Makati Shangri-La said in its Facebook announcement.

Other Shangri La properties in the Philippines—EDSA Shangri La in Mandaluyong City, Shangri-La The Fort in Taguig City, Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa in Cebu, Shangri-La’s Boracay Resort and Spa in Aklan—remained  operational.

The JEN Manila by Shangri-La in Pasay City was closed in September 2022 for the development of the old property along Roxas Boulevard.

Makati Shangri-La is among the luxury hotels and landmarks that redefined the Makati skyline in the past decades, along with Mandarin Hotel, InterContinental Manila, Dusit Thani and Peninsula Manila Hotel.  Mandarin and InterContinental Manila were demolished a few years ago to pave the way for new high-rise buildings.
