Former child star Mutya Orquia and showbiz newcomer Beaver Magtalas are currently in Baguio for the production of Magic Hurts, a romantic comedy aimed at young audiences.

In the film, Mutya plays the character of a young girl who deeply loves her parents despite the difficulties in their relationship. Mutya shared her thoughts on what viewers can anticipate from the film, expressing that it may evoke feelings of compassion, annoyance, or amusement, as they are unsure how her character will be received by the audience.

“We’re not yet sure how my character will be accepted by moviegoers. I just want to thank Direk Gabby for giving me that role,” she said expressing her gratitude to film director Gabby Ramos for entrusting her with the role.

Excited about her first movie project, Mutya revealed her enthusiasm after reading the script and meeting with Direk Gabby. It’s also her first time working with Beaver and Maxine Trinidad in a movie.

“I’m really super excited to film my first movie. I felt super excited after I read the script and during our meeting with Direk Gabby. He communicated with us. He was very open to the suggestions of the artists. That’s why I know our shoot will be smooth and light,” the teen star added.

Beaver, on the other hand, talked about the natural connection he shares with Mutya as friends, believing that it will help them convincingly portray their characters in the film.

“I feel that when it comes to our connection, there are still many things we need to improve on. However, in some cases, it’s pretty natural because we’re very close friends. So hopefully, we can show that to the people watching,” Beaver shared.

Mutya echoed Beaver’s sentiments, emphasizing that their existing close friendship will aid them during the scenes and promotional activities. Their authentic bond as friends will undoubtedly be evident to the audience, as their fans are well aware of their shared experiences.

Completing the cast are Angelica Jones, Dennis Padilla, Claudine Barretto, Arianna Barretto, Archie Adamos, Aileen Papin, Blumark Roces, Pantene Palanca, Cassie Kim, Dennah Bautista, Ricardo Cepeda, and Julian Roxas.

Magic Hurts is scheduled for a forthcoming premiere in cinemas and on streaming platforms.
