PBBM assures aid to people affected by “Egay”

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. assured the public that the government will do its best to provide aid to people affected by Super Typhoon “Egay” as it made landfall in Cagayan Province on Wednesday.

In a tweet, President Marcos said that around P173 million worth of assistance, food, and non-food items, is on standby and ready to be delivered to those in need.

President Marcos is currently in Malaysia for a three-day visit from July 25 to July 27 to strengthen bilateral ties between the two nations.

Search, rescue, and retrieval personnel from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Bureau of Fire Protection, and Philippine Coast Guard are also ready to provide help, said the Chief Executive.

According to the President, around 93.53% of electricity has been restored in affected municipalities.

He added that the government is securing the safety of the families affected in Region I, II, III, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, VI, VII, and XII.

In the latest situational report from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, at least 44,356 families or 180,439 individuals are affected by Egay.

Among the affected individuals, 11,041 persons were displaced by the typhoon with the majority of the numbers staying inside the 107 evacuation centers across the country.

NDRRMC reported at least one death and two hurt, which are still up for validation.
