The University of Caloocan City (UCC) conducted its 49th Commencement Exercises at the Mall of Asia Arena on Tuesday, June 20. More than 4,000 students from both the North and South campuses were part of the graduation proceedings.
Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan congratulated the graduates for finishing their collegiate journey with flying colors and challenged them to continue their hard work and perseverance.
“Congratulations UCC Batch 2023! You have made it this far, you have made it to the finish line. Ihanda niyo ang mga sarili niyo sa mga pagsubok dahil sa gusto at ayaw niyo ay darating ‘yan sa buhay. Pero alam ko na ang mga Batang Kankaloo ay hindi basta-basta sumusuko,” he said.
Mayor Along gave a special mention to one of the city hall’s lady guards, Ms. Melissa Calderon, who is among the graduates with a degree in Public Administration. He called upon everyone to look upon her dedication as an inspiration to keep pursuing their dreams and surprised Ms. Calderon with an on-the-spot job offer to work in the city government as a token of appreciation for her diligent effort in working as a guard while studying at UCC.
“Isang kwento ng pagsusumikap ang isa sa mga kasama niyong nagtapos ngayong araw na ito. Kay Melissa Calderon ng Bachelor in Public Administration, maraming salamat sa pagiging ehemplo sa mga Batang Kankaloo at sa mga kapwa mo mag-aaral sa UCC,” Mayor Along stated.
“Let me show my appreciation to her loyalty and determination. Kung nais mong maging bahagi ng pamahalaang lungsod, welcome ka na pumunta sa HR natin,” the local chief executive added.
Mayor Along concluded by reaffirming the city government’s effort to invest in UCC and the education of his constituents for a better future for Caloocan City.
“Nakita ko na sulit sa mga mag-aaral ng UCC ang isinulong kong libreng tuition noong konsehal pa lamang ako. Kaya ngayong mayor na ako, asahan niyo na mas bubuhusan ko ng suporta ang UCC at ang mga mag-aaral dito,” Mayor Along said.
