A German business delegation from the cosmetics industry is exploring opportunities with local counterparts in the Philippines, the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry said Tuesday.

GPPCI executive director Christopher Zimmerman said the delegation would be in the Philippines for five working days from June 19 to June 23, 2023.

“Our chamber is happy to provide the stage for them to connect with key stakeholders in the Philippines, fostering valuable partnerships and exploring exciting business opportunities. The participation of these German companies highlights a charming potential in the cosmetics and wellness sectors in the Philippines,” Zimmerman said at the sidelines of “Beauty & Business for Cosmetics and Wellness” conference at the Fairmont Hotel in Makati City on June 20.

The conference is part of the business delegation organized by leading German cosmetics and wellness companies in cooperation with the German Association of Personal Care and Detergents and the Market Development Program for German SMEs of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action with support from Etaily and the Philippine Retailers Association.

“The health and beauty industry has immense potential and is evolving. We recommend that the players explore the Philippine market by exploring its local shopping mall culture,” said SM Supermalls president Steven Tan in his presentation during the conference.

Etaily fast moving consumer goods and beauty director Alexandria Garcia told participants to focus on the evolving trends in the Philippines.

“For the e-commerce sector, we propose that investors capitalize on developing microtrends. Filipinos also are heavily concentrated on community and familial ties – recommendations help consumers decide purchases,” she said.

The five visiting German firms include Nobis, a company established in 1952 which produces dietary supplements and cosmetics using natural ingredients and Estatira Organic which manufactures essential cosmetic and healthcare products using natural ingredients.

The rest are MedSkin Solutions, a leader in biotech solutions for tissue regeneration and skin health, providing effective and cost-efficient products; Medical Beauty Research which specializes in luxury and premium skin and hair care products developed through intensive cosmetic research; and Skin Care Manufaktur which develops, manufactures and distributes innovative and high-quality skin care products globally from their state-of-the-art facilities in Germany.

The German delegation will further explore partnership potentials with Philippine counterparts through B2B-meetings and other networking activities throughout their stay in the Philippines.
