In a recent media conference, Judy Ann Santos admitted that she asked permission from ABS-CBN before she started taping for a series produced by Reality Entertainment whose production is ongoing and is under the helm of award-winning megger Erik Matti.

“I called up Tita Cory Vidanes (ABS-CBN’s Chief Operating Officer) to inform her that I’m doing a project outside ABS. For me, it’s very important. Even if I don’t have an existing contract with them, I felt that they still needed to know,” she averred.

The popular actress highly values her business relations with the Kapamilya.

“All my life, I’ve been doing all my soap operas with them. This is the first time that I’m doing one outside their umbrella so, I’d feel guilty if I won’t tell the management.”

Santos said that her conversation with Vidanes turned out well. The ABS-CBN executive told her that they appreciated her gesture so much even if she thinks that asking permission from them is not needed.

“I’m the type who doesn’t want to hurt anyone along the way, especially when it comes to work. I believe that it’s not worth stepping on other people’s toes just for the sake of receiving a huge talent fee or something. Not that I’m saying that I have a huge paycheck. It’s just that I feel that you have to give respect to people who made you whole or reach your present stature.”

Santos revealed that she doesn’t have any existing contract with ABS-CBN. Her contract with the Kapamilya ended in 2019.

“When I was doing Starla, I didn’t have a contract with them already. Then, the pandemic struck. They still made me host ‘Paano Kita Mapasasalamatan’ which I’m very grateful for considering that I didn’t have a contract with them at that point.

“I can say that contract is not the sole basis of my relationship with my home network for almost three decades. With ABS, I have a very honest and open relationship when it comes to the projects they offer me.”

Interestingly, will she be open to working with other TV networks, especially with GMA-7?

“Well, I’m open to the possibility of working with other networks. There are inquiries but more than anything, my deep relationship with ABS matters. If ever there will be an offer from GMA, I still have to communicate that with ABS.

“This is a dream come true for me. It is part of my bucket list to work and walk the red carpet with a Superstar and National Artist like Ms. Nora Aunor!” he states.

The actor-politician vows to do his best in this very promising movie.

“Ate Guy and I have already met. It’s heartwarming to know that she chooses her projects wisely and it’s fortunate that she found ‘Pieta’ worth doing. I will do my best here. I will show all my acting skills to the hilt because the Superstar deserves nothing less!”

Alfred didn’t have second thoughts about accepting the project.

“The plot enticed me so much. It’s about an ex-convict and his mother. Wow! The character I’ll be portraying –the material in general. And when I learned that Ms. Nora Aunor is the female lead, I said, ‘Game!’ It’s hard to let this golden opportunity slip away,” he ends.
