DHL Express, the world’s leading international express service provider, said Thursday it upgraded its aircraft from A300 to A330-300, increasing its capacity by 31 percent in the Philippines.

The upgraded aircraft, operated by Air Hong Kong, will increase DHL’s capacity from 42 tons to 55 tons, with 12 weekly flights to serve the route of Hong Kong-Manila-Cebu-Manila-Hong Kong.

“We continue to invest in our business in the Philippines, and we are proud to bring these improvements to the country,” said Nigel Lockett, country manager for DHL Express Philippines.

“Our new and larger aircraft is a firm commitment to serving our customers, and ensure that we are prepared to support their growth at a global scale and respond to the needs and demands of the market,” he said.

The aircraft is part of 15-year-agreement that DHL signed with AHK Air Hong Kong Limited and Cathay Pacific to enable overnight air delivery services and support express services for the Asia Pacific region until 2033.
