Security Bank Foundation, Inc. (SBFI), the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of Security Bank, completed its distribution of 64 Knowledge Channel Portable Media Libraries (PML) and 1,122 keychain microscopes to its adopted schools nationwide.

Biñan Elementary School is one of Security Bank Foundation’s beneficiary schools, with a 2-storey, 8-classroom building in 2016. In 2022, they received a Portable Media Library from SBFI filled with educational videos and resources to help teachers improve learning delivery.

Dubbed as the Gift of Knowledge, PMLs are hard drives with over 1,500 Knowledge Channel developed video lessons, e-games, and e-session guides aligned with the Department of Education K-12 curriculum.

“The Portable Media Library is in line with the Department of Education’s attempt to lessen teachers’ workloads so they can devote more time and attention to teaching and monitoring the progress of students,’‘ shares Tagbilaran City District Supervisor Ma. Antonette P. Dugang.

The keychain microscope, also known as Makeroscope, is a handy tool for viewing microscopic samples up to x265 zoom when attached to mobile devices’ front cameras. Each set comes with sample slides of animal and plant cells.

“Seeing microorganisms move at first hand was a whole different feeling. I was amazed at how such a small device could magnify the cell. It is amazing how big help can come in small packages,” says Aliyah O. Machica, a Grade 8 student from Camarines Sur National High School.

The 64 recipient schools of PMLs and 11 recipient schools of Makeroscopes are also beneficiaries of Security Bank Foundation’s Build a School, Build a Nation Program, a holistic program that provides schools with classrooms and associated repair, teacher and school principal training, and other learner support interventions.

The last batch of 13 schools that received PMLs during the National Teachers’ Month from September 5 to October 5, 2022 were Agusan Del Sur National High School (San Francisco, Agusan Del Sur), Annafunan Elementary School (Tuguegarao City), Biñan Elementary School (Biñan City, Laguna), Cauayan City National High School (Cauayan, Isabela), Cauayan South Central School (Cauayan, Isabela), Pallua Elementary School (Tuguegarao City), Sabang Elementary School (Danao City, Cebu), Santiago North Central School – Sped Center (Santiago City, Isabela), Santiago South Central School (Santiago City, Isabela), Solano East Central School – Integrated SPED Center (Solano, Nueva Ecija), Tagbilaran City Central School (Tagbilaran City, Bohol), Tagbilaran City East Elementary School (Tagbilaran City, Bohol) and Villa Grande Elementary School (Naga City, Camarines Sur)
