Restaurant operator Shakey’s Pizza Asia Ventures Inc. said Monday it plans to scale up the expansion of its fast-growing roast chicken chain Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken and Sauce Bar after tripling its store network.
Shakey’s said in a stock exchange filing Peri-Peri now has 68 branches, up from 21 stores when it acquired the brand in 2019.
The company said it opened new stores in Central Luzon and North Luzon in the fourth quarter of 2022, as part of its strategy to expand its presence beyond Metro Manila.
“Peri-Peri has grown significantly over the past three years, despite the pandemic. In a short span of time, it has become a strong number 2 player in the category,” Shakey’s president and chief executive Vicente Gregorio said.
“Given its strong performance in the Metro, we believe it’s high time to expand to new cities and give their local residents a taste of Peri-Peri,” he said. Jenniffer B. Austria
