Harry Styles fans can now merge their studies and love for the British singer in this new course offered by a Texas University.

“Harry Styles and the Cult of Celebrity: Identity, the Internet, and European Pop Culture” will be available at the Texas State University Honours College in Spring 2023.

Associate professor of Digital History at the University, Dr. Louie Dean Valencia, announced the course via Twitter, saying, “This is what tenure looks like.”

The course description reads: “This course focuses on British musician Harry Styles and popular European culture to understand the cultural and political development of the modern celebrity as related to questions of gender and sexuality, race, class, nation and globalism, media, fashion, fan culture, internet culture, and consumerism.”

The course will delve into Style’s work as a former One Direction member, his solo music, filmography, and other artists that inspired his work.

Students can expect to learn about the impact of Style’s artforms on the pop-culture scene and societal issues explored throughout his career, such as gender expression.

It’s not the first time a university has introduced a celebrity-related course. Past courses, not necessarily from Texas University, featured Lady Gaga, Kanye West, The Beatles, etc.
