LRMC, Ateneo tie up on railway education

Light Rail Manila Corp. on Thursday said it would partner with the Ateneo De Manila University (ADMU) through its School of Science and Engineering for the advancement of railway education in the Philippines.

Under the arrangement, LRMC will work with ADMU in designing railway engineering courses and programs to support the growing need for highly-skilled, competent, and world-class rail workforce as the country develops further the local industry.

The preliminary ADMU courses planned for School Year 2022-2023 include Course 1: Transportation and Society, Course 2: Principles of Railway Transportation, and Course 3: Railway Management and Engineering.

The first course is a general course on transportation that will be an interdisciplinary elective open to any ADMU student who has taken Science, Technology, and Society (STS 10) as a subject, while Course 2 is a technical IE course intended for students with majors under the Department of Electronics, Computer, and Communications Engineering.
