Angeles trade, tourism fair rakes in ₱147k

ANGELES CITY—The three-day Agcatan Angeleño Pa trade and tourism fair of the city government, held from May 24 to 26 at the new parking lot here, has earned ₱147,644, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. said.

Lazatin said the project is in line with the goal of the city government to assist the local tourism and business industries gravely hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, the earnings reached ₱52,741 during the first day, ₱33,790 on the second day, and ₱61,113 on the third and last day, when a raffle was also held for Angelenos who purchased worth ₱500.

The trade fair was supervised by Manuel with Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, the Angeles City Economic Development Investment and Promotions Office led by Irish Bonus-Llego, and the Angeles City Tourism Office headed by Anneleen Antonio-Sugui.

Among the partner-merchants who displayed their Gawang Angeleño products were Impact Balibago Arts and Crafts (IBAC), Tamayuc bayong bags, Cutud Weavers’ plant baskets, Stitched by RAJ hair bows, bags/purses from recycled plastics by Ellen Turla, Bel’s Woodcraft, kitchen organizers by Flores Handicrafts, fashion accessories by K’s Creations, and hand-painted jars, fork and spoon, and clay pots by Tabaks. The Kapebaluan, Angeleño-produced coffee and Giada’s food items were among the goers’ favorites.

The Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office also showcased their own peanut butter and atchara products.

Also present at the fair to promote the locality were members of the Hotels and Restaurants Association in Pampanga (HARP) and members of the Alliance of Travel and Tour Agencies of Pampanga (ATTAP).

Lazatin also thanked Beautéderm, led by President and Chief Executive Officer Rei Anicoche-Tan, for supporting the event, as well as MRM Mercado Holdings Corp. President Ric Mercado, Giada’s Luan Corp.; Prime City Hotel Powered by G-Tower led by Luchie Lozano; SM City Clark; and Landers Superstore.

One of the priority programs of the Lazatin administration is to promote and strengthen Angeleño Pa.

In 2021, the One Town One Product store of the city government, featuring 21 local micro small medium enterprises, earned ₱744,903—which is given wholly to the merchants.
