To revitalize sports and harness the potential of Quezon City’s athletes, the city government is now renovating the decades-old Amoranto Sports Complex.

The master plan covers the construction of new sports facilities, such as the Amoranto Arena with an approximate seating capacity of 3,500 for basketball competitions and other big events.

The construction is now in full swing and is expected to be completed within the year.

For swimming training and competition, the Amoranto Swimming Pool is currently being built to include an Olympic-sized swimming pool with 10 lanes and an elevated pool deck.

The tennis court area of the two-story Amoranto Indoor Sports Facility is also due for completion this year.

The other areas of the sports facility shall commence construction soon.

The sports complex can host sports competitions as its design is based on local and international standards.

A five-story deck parking building is also being built to support the high volume of people during an event. This can accommodate more than 300 cars, motorcycles, and bikes.

A special area is also designated for buses.

The city government is also planning to improve the existing grandstand and the track and field oval.

Constructed in 1960 on a 5.8-hectare land in Barangay Paligsahan in Quezon City, the sports complex is composed of a grandstand with main stadium, an eight-lane track and field oval, bleachers, and a gymnasium.

It also has tennis courts, badminton courts, martial arts facility, a swimming pool, and other facilities for different sports activities. Studies on rehabilitating the existing velodrome are being undertaken.
