‘Don’t waste your vote, elect most qualified candidate’

Presidential candidate Panfilo ‘Ping’ Lacson has urged Filipino voters to elect the most qualified person for the toughest job of leading the country so that votes will not be wasted.

The real wasted votes, he noted,  are those that would go to unrightful victors and the thieves who have no right to be voted into office. “Have mercy on our Filipino people,” he said.

He also told voters that  just because someone is not faring well in the surveys means he is not worth voting for.

LACSON-SOTTO TANDEM IN MIMAROPA. Supporters welcome Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and running mate Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, as they took their good governance agenda to this island province of MiMaRoPa. The presidential tandem then held a town hall meeting—a staple event during their campaign sorties—at the Romblon Public Theater.

In his closing statement at the second round of the ‘PiliPinas Debates 2022: The Turning Point,’ Sunday evening, Lacson pointed out that no votes will ever be wasted on a candidate like him, who is already prepared to take the reins of leadership and steer the nation toward a better direction.

“I love my country. I am ready to defend it against foreign invaders and the powerful individuals who are abusing our underprivileged citizens. We keep hearing that a vote might be wasted on someone who is more qualified but seems unlikely to win,” he said.

During the latest debate hosted by the Commission on Elections (Comelec), Lacson presented anew some of the good policies he is prepared to implement once he is elected president. This include  a plan to strengthen the Commission on Human Rights (CHR).

One of the topics discussed during the forum was the possibility of granting CHR ‘quasi-judicial function’ to secure its “fiscal autonomy” like the judiciary and other independent constitutional commissions.

In response, Lacson noted that while the Constitution itself did not give the CHR prosecutorial powers as part of its mandate, he as president could authorize more financial support for the agency to enhance and strengthen its role in protecting the civil and political rights of Filipinos.

Meanwhile, chherful Romblonmanos  and festive vibes greet the Lacson-Sotto tandemn on their trip to the ‘Marble Capital.”

The presidential tandem then held a town hall meeting—a staple event during their campaign sorties—at the Romblon Public Theater to present their proposed policies of government, anchored on their flagship Budget Reform Advocacy for Village Empowerment (BRAVE) program.

Eager supporters held their smartphone cameras at the ready while waiting on the approaching candidates. Team Lacson-Sotto arrived at the town hall venue with local residents playing festive music that energized a multitude of Romblomanons.
