The camp of Vice President Leni Robredo believes there will only be a two-way presidential race between her and ex-senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in the May 2022 elections.

Barry Gutierrez, Robredo’s spokesperson, reacted to the results of the Pulse Asia poll survey showing Robredo with a 20% rating, a far second to Marcos with a 53% rating among the presidential bets for next year.

“The 12-point jump in Vice President Leni’s numbers, which more than doubles her results from the last survey, is definitive affirmation of the energy and momentum of the people’s campaign that emerged following her declaration of candidacy on Oct. 7,” Gutierrez said in a statement.

“2022 is now clearly a Robredo versus Marcos contest. We are confident that in the next four months, Vice President Leni’s consistent, hands-on leadership and the enthusiastic efforts of our volunteers, will continue to broaden and increase her support,” he added

“Simula pa lang ito. Ipapanalo natin ito. (This is just the start. We will win this race),” Gutierrez said.

Meanwhile, television host and actress Kris Aquino recently joined Robredo in providing relief assistance to victims of Typhoon “Odette” in southern Negros Occidental.

Aquino vowed to join Robredo in her campaign sorties in January as she delivered truckloads of food packs to evacuation centers in the cities of Himamaylan and Kabankalan.

She said she would visit the hometown of her son Josh’s babysitter in Hinigaran town, also in the province.

Actress Angel Locsin has also donated a P2-million assistance for the typhoon survivors.

Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson welcomed the Vice President in her visit.
