Good luck envelope

Rogelio Monzon, 68, readies his “ampao” envelopes—also known as red envelopes— as cousins Yna and Neiz take turns at Lolo Elyo’s Christmas blessing. The envelopes are gifts presented at social and family gatherings such as weddings or holidays such as Chinese New Year. The red color symbolizes good luck and is a symbol to ward off evil spirits.
