To support the need for a sustainable grassroots’ development program in football, Bacolod-based businessman-sportsman Ricky Yanson Jr. is set to go for the presidency of the Philippine Football Federation.

Yanson is seeking football’s top post against current PFF president Mariano “Nonong” Araneta.

While Yanson remained tight-lipped at the meantime about his decision to run against Araneta, his supporters from within the PFF said change from within the football community is coming.

For now, maintaining and organizing the four-year old NOFA Cup is among his priorities.

Members of the football community said there has been disenchantment on the PFF”s grassroots program over the last year.

And that’s because grassroots activities seems to have waned these days.

That is why Yanson’s bid to reach out member organizations outside of the Visayas region has been welcomed.

Araneta is currently on his second term.
