Cignal TV Inc., the pay-television unit of MediaQuest Holdings Inc., plans to protect its market share by providing more relevant content to young viewers.

“We ended the third quarter with 2.2 million [subscribers], we are actually the biggest in the country right now. Our goal is to make sure that we at least to protect our market share,” said Cignal TV president and chief executive Jane Basas.

“Our market share is around 50 percent and the goal is to come up with a new initiative that will allow us to remain relevant looking forward because there’s a change in viewing behavior, particularly the more premium segment on the young who have now access to digital platforms,” she said.

Basas added the company became profitable in 2017 and was growing significantly year-on-year.

“We are growing phenomenally, especially with the introduction of our low-end brand. It’s really leading the growth of Cignal and the succeeding year particularly in 2020. We expect to contribute at least 70 to 80 percent of our growth for Cignal,” she said.
