Exhibit of ‘balisong’, pandan

A group of arts and culture workers in Southern Tagalog is set to launch a mobile exhibit featuring the intangible cultural heritage of provinces of Pangasinan, Laguna, Batangas and Quezon.

Beginning Nov. 4, the exhibit dubbed “Palipad-Dila” will be featured at the Alaminos City Sports Complex in Alaminos City, Pangasinan and in selected venues in Calamba City, Luisiana and Los Baños in Laguna, and Lucban in Quezon until December.

The Linang Arts and Culture Network Inc., through the assistance of National Commission for Culture and the Arts and Arts Research and Training Institute in Southern Tagalog Inc., will also launch the exhibit as a continuity of the Sining-habi program to popularize the local heritage of Luzon. 

The event will feature visual exhibit, audio-visual presentations, short performances and forum the history and production processes of butterfly knife known as balisong of Batangas, the ingredients and production of pancit habhab of Lucban, Quezon and the traditional weaving practice of making baskets, huts and mats of Luisiana, Laguna. 

The exhibit will also feature how the intangible cultural heritage can be utilized in localization, contextualization and indigenization of curriculum, including samples of the teaching-learning activities.

The Palipad-Dila was envisioned to engage the culture-bearers in popularizing and mainstreaming their traditional practices as well as developing the culture sensitivity of the contemporary viewers and students.
