Motorcycle service provider Angkas said it expects no surge pricing during the holiday season despite the anticipated increase in demand.

“We have dynamic pricing, so it is not as big as the current TNC [transport network company] players,” Angkas chief transport advocate George Royeca said.

“We just maintain the existing parameters that we have. We hope to service a portion of the demand as it grows, especially going into the Christmas season. We are already seeing some increases in traffic congestion and also the demand,” he said.

Royeca assured the public that its service levels are at par with adequate standards and services of the commuters. He is also optimistic that the government will permanently legalize the operations of motorcycle taxis in the country this year.

“I am very hopeful that the law will be passed within the timeframe,” Royeca said.

Angkas was granted by DOTr a six-month trial run that allowed the service to operate in Metro Manila and Metro Cebu in June this year. There are 27,000 riders enlisted in the Angkas network.
