Kamao five, Builders win in UNTV Cup
PhilHealth’s Mark Pedroso goes for a basket during their UNTV Cup game with Ombudsman on Sunday at the Pasig City Sports Center. The PhilHealth Plus scored a 118-110 win over the Graftbusters.

The Malacañang-PSC Kamao used a balanced attack in overpowering the GSIS Furies, 102-69 while the NHA Builders got crucial baskets from Tibay twins—Waldermar and Ralph—to complete a stirring 108-101victory over the Judiciary Magis.

The lone Group A match also ended in overtime with PhilHealth nailing its first win in three games with a 118-110 win over the Ombudsman Graftbusters in the event organized by UNTV president and CEO Dr. Daniel Razon.

Joseph Besa led five Kamao players in double figures with 19 points while Michael Ignario and Ian Garrido contributed 17 and 14 points, respectively, as the team bucked the absence of leading scorer Erick dela Cuesta.

Former Letran star Jonathan Aldave, on the other hand, starred for the PhilHealth Plus by exploding for 38 points apart from posting seven boards and two assists. Backing him up was Mark Pedroso who tallied 19 points, 9 assists, five rebounds and three steals.

The Builders of coach Benneth Palad trailed in the first three quarters before the Tibay twins joined forces with Alvin Vitug to force the extra period.

NHA then pounced on the disqualifications of former PBA players Chester Tolomia and Warren Ybanez on fouls in the second overtime to pull through for a 2-1 record.

The Magis slipped to 1-2 in the event offering P4 million to the chosen charity of the champion team.
