Alma Concepcion crowned Ms. Grand Universe 2019She did not win in Miss Hawaiian Tropic in 1992 and in Miss International 1994, but twenty-five years later, Alma Concepcion, now 44, claimed her first international title at the finals of Ms. & Mrs. Grand/Classic Universe 2019 pageant held recently at the Tanghalang Pasigueño in Pasig City.

Concepcion, wearing a yellow, see-through, high slit gown, was crowned Ms. Grand Universe 2019. She competed on a platform of women empowerment. A separated wife, Alma raised her son on her own while acting in movies, receiving a Gawad Urian best supporting actress nomination for Sa Ngalan Ng Pag-ibig in 1996 and then pursued a degree in B.S. Interior Design at the University of the Philippines. She is now a licensed Interior Designer. Her drug case in 1998 was also a hard lesson in life which she used in her anti-drug advocacy, as a spokesperson in the government’s campaign against drug.

Mrs. Philippines Leah May Luna Panisales was named Mrs. Grand Universe 2019 while Miss Japan Kayoko Asai won Miss Grand Universe 2019.

Mrs. USA Christa Maree Monteene Calalec Papa-Ely was named Mrs. Grand Universe-International 2019 and Mrs. Thailand Wipardvadee Mills was named Mrs. Grand Ambassador 2019.

Mrs. Philippines Globe 2019 candidates named

The press launch of the twenty-five candidates of Mrs. Philippines Globe 2019 was held at the Century Mall Events Center on Wednesday. Mrs. Philippines Globe 2019, on its 8th year, will crown its two winners, Mrs. Philippines Globe 2019 (23 to 43 year-old) and Mrs. Philippines Globe Classique 2019 (44 to 55), who will compete at the prestigious Mrs. Globe 2019 World Finals in Shenzhen, China in November 2019 and Mrs. Globe Classique 2021 in California, USA, respectively.

Parading in their national costumes, the 25 aspirants will also vie for the coveted Woman of Substance title and other special awards which include, Career Woman of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Mother of the Year, Personality of the Year, Most Beautiful Face, Most Elegant Woman, Mrs. Body Beautiful, Supermodel Mom, Best in National Costume, Designer of the Year and Husband of the Year.

Mrs. Philippines Globe 2018 Anne Acuña and Mrs. Philippines Globe Classique 2019 Annalyn Marie Gayatin will relinquish their titles at the coronation night to be held at Marquis Events Place, BGC, Taguig City on Oct. 13. 

“Our pageant theme for this year is inspired by Angels, as we believe mothers are the angels of our lives whose love and devotion are tested to be the strongest by protecting their children at any cause. This year, we will also launch our MPG Ambassadors, a roster of our fabulous titleholders who will mentor our candidates, promote our advocacy and endorse our sponsors,” said Mrs. Philippines Globe CEO and National Pageant Director Morena Carla Cabrera.

The 25 candidates are Mariz Songcuan, Julieta Mirasol, Jenn Dizon, Marianne Rodrigo, Maria Jasmin Mateo, Anna Marie Ipapo, Jessa Linatoc, Jujelyn Ballon, Maria Theresa Celada, Justine May Yadao, Chatterlie Mae Gabay, Florivic Cruz, Annabelle Jimenez, Arlene Limboy, Joyce Villa, Lorellie Dumagat, Edelmira Montero, Anna Marie Santos, Jelliane Rose Villacuatro, Jennifer Flores, Kathy Jaravilla, Jane Jarencio, Andrea Angel Tan, Maricel Enopeña, and Joscille Obaob.
