The Medical City Clark announced the establishment of the country’s first genomics facility that will be housed within the Clark Freeport and Special Economic Zone.

TMCC president and chief executive Almario Jabson said the new facility would allow the early detection of common and even dreaded diseases, like cancer, kidney and cardio-vascular problems.

“We will focus on the propensity for cardiovascular and kidney diseases and cancer. The whole concept (of genomics) is for TMC Clark to be able to tell someone at age of 20 or 30 years old the propensity to these diseases based on chromosomal patterns. From there, we can also help in nutritional and lifestyle support. If not preventive, we should be able to delay (diseases),” he said.

The medical center is leaning toward the provision of more modern facilities to bring better health and lifestyle to the public. Othel V. Campos

Advanced techniques and approaches are being applied as Clark becomes a center for innovative medical prevention and treatment not just for the Freeport but also for central and northern Luzon areas.
