The City Government of Navotas has inaugurated the NavoHimlayan crematorium, columbarium and funeral chapel in line with the celebration of its 12th cityhood anniversary.

Mayor John Rey Tiangco and Vice Mayor Clint Geronimo, together with city and barangay officials, led the ceremony at the Navotas City Cemetery.

Tiangco said instead of free burial services, the city will now offer free cremation for deceased Navoteño indigents.

Navoteños who can afford the services of NavoHimlayan may lease a columbarium niche for 25 years.

The city columbarium currently has 3,632 niches and can accommodate up to 19,000 urns.

“The NavoHimlayan is the fulfillment of our city government’s promise that we will take care of our people from womb to tomb,” he said.

Tiangco, who has served Navotas for nine years as mayor, has been elected district representative.

An ordinance on the use of the NavoHimlayan is nearing completion.
