Cycling enthusiasts will soon experience more convenient and accessible routes in Clark Freeport Zone as Clark Development Corp. started the construction of bike paths.

The CDC Engineering Services said the bike paths would be three meter-wide with two lanes. These will be along main thoroughfares in the Freeport including M.A. Roxas Highway, C.M. Recto Highway, Friendship Gate to Jose Abad Santos Ave. and around the Parade Grounds. Additional traffic signages and blinking lights warning will be put up to ensure a safer and more convenient ride as motorists and bike enthusiasts alike traverse parallel and intersecting roads in the Freeport.

The provision of bike lanes is seen to pave the way for both bike enthusiasts and employees to go to their work on bikes while helping promote a healthy lifestyle and reduce carbon dioxide emission.

Abel Carreon, one of the ride leaders in the 2nd Clark Cycling Challenge, underscored the importance of having bike racks to ensure the safety of bikers.

Edna Eufemio, organizer of the 2nd Clark Cycling Challenge said the provision of bike lanes and the conduct of the various sports-related events in Clark would help promote the Freeport not only as a biking route but also as a tourism destination.
