SM Sta. Mesa goes pitch black for Worldwide Earth Hour

Sm City Sta Mesa’s creative installation shined brightest as the mall turned off lights at exactly 8:30PM until 9:30PM. The centrepiece was filled with different commitments made to save the Earth and the environment. – reduce food waste, save water, conserve energy, shop locally, go car-free.

In celebration of Earth Hour Campaign, SM CITY STA. MESA invited different entrepreneurs to share their vision and mission on how to #Connect2Earth. Monnick Cruz from Silent Beads is eager to create beautiful beads, seed papers and other crafts that grow into plants after use all from paper wastes.

Anne Yee of JACINTO & LIRIO (meaning “Hyacinth” and “Lily”), is a social enterprise that transforms a “pest” into eco-iconic and multi-functional leather goods sustainably made from water hyacinth, with a mission to empower affected families by the water hyacinth infestation problem through livelihood generation. Jacinto & Lirio provides beautifully handcrafted plant leather goods which are impressively multi- functional yet stylish conversational-pieces with a lifestyle appeal for professionals, and companies who wants to create a strong patriotic, environmental and socio-ethical statement. Mark Joseph Laceste from Bambuhay is set to lead the way in sustainable business by creating inclusive and eco-friendly solutions to heal the planet and build opportunities through empowering marginalized communities.
