A party-list lawmaker on Wednesday vowed to make available overseas Filipino worker assistance desks in all barangays across the country to address the demands and expectations of OFWs and their families.
ACTS-OFW Party-list Rep. John Bertiz III said he wants to bring immediate assistance to migrant workers and their families by putting up assistance desks in every barangays in the country, bring their programs and services closer especially to barangays located away from the city center.
“Our barangays are the front-liners in delivering basic government services to our people. We hope we can bring the government closer to our OFWs and their families by setting up OFW assistance desk in each barangay,” said Bertiz, member of the House minority bloc.
“It is safe to say that most, if not all, of our barangays have families with migrant workers risking their lives abroad and enduring all hardships to provide for their loved ones in the country. We want to get our people feel their government,” he added.
