Quezon City Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte, who is running for mayor in the May 13 elections, on Wednesday urged the public to look into the track record, integrity and platform of any candidate in the upcoming midterm polls.

“The people must be reflective in electing their leaders and consider looking into the candidate’s personality and background to assess their viability for office,” Belmonte said.

Voters could check the integrity of a candidate even through the internet, adding the people should see if a candidate’s platforms are realistic, she said.

According to the vice mayor, as a leader, she aims to change the culture of governance so that people could put their trust and confidence in the government.

“It is hard to make promises. Once you fail to make on good on your promises, that could lead to distrust,” Belmonte said.
