NU cagebelles extend win streak to 75 games

Antipolo City—Titleholder National University overpowered Ateneo, 76-52, for its 11th straight win, extending its remarkable unbeaten run to 75 games Sunday in the UAAP Season 81 women’s basketball tournament at the Ynares Center here.

Reigning MVP Jack Danielle Animam had 20 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks while Congo’s Rhena Itesi also produced a double-double with 14 points and 22 boards as the Lady Bulldogs moved three wins of gaining an outright passage to the best-of-three championship.

Valerie Mamaril had 17 points, six boards and five assists as Far Eastern University solidified its hold on second spot with a 64-57 decision over University of the East.

The Lady Tamaraws improved to 8-3 with also three games left in their elimination round assignments. 

FEU opened an one-game cushion over Adamson University (7-4) in the race for the twice-to-beat semifinals incentive.

The Lady Eagles and the Lady Warriors fell to 4-7 and 2-9, respectively.
