THE Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board on Tuesday denied the plea filed by the United Filipino Consumers and Commuters to stop jeepney and bus fare increase in the National Capital Region.
Chairman Martin Delgra III, along with board member Ronaldo Corpus, signed the order with the other board member, lawyer Aileen Lizada, issuing a dissenting opinion.
“The motion failed to present new issues for the board to reconsider its earlier findings,” the Oct. 30 decision read.
The fare increase will take effect on Nov. 3.
Last Oct. 23, the UFCC filed a petition with the LTFRB, questioning the fare hike.
The commuters group said the fare increase was “unfortunate for millions of people.”
The agency approved the increase of minimum jeepney fare to P10 from P9, provincial bus fare to P13 from P12, and Metro Manila buses fare to P11 from P10.
