Some P25 million worth of smuggled counterfeit branded cigarettes, food seasoning and beauty products have been destroyed by the Bureau of Customs in Laguna, officials said Tuesday.

The BoC-Enforcement and Security Service confiscated the fake products in several warehouses in Quezon City, which include counterfeit Marlboro, Fortune, Mighty and Winston brand cigarettes, Silka products, Knorr Pork and Beef cubes, and Knorr Sinigang Mix, Maggi Magic Sarap, and Golden bihon pasta.

The condemnation was conducted at the facility of Tritek Reverse Logistics Corp., in San Pedro, Laguna —the contractor for the condemned forfeited goods.

“Under the law, importation and exportation of infringing goods, as defined under the Intellectual Property Code and related laws, are prohibited,” Customs Commissioner Isidro Lapeña said.
