Former Standard reporter David passes away

Maria Jocelyn “Gigi” Muñoz-David, a former Manila Standard reporter who became an officer in the Caloocan City government, passed away Wednesday morning after a long battle with cancer. She was 55.

Her remains lie in state at the St. Peter Memorial Chapels in Meycauayan, Bulacan, where the David family lives. Gigi’s cremation is scheduled on October 14, 2018, according to her husband, former Standard photographer and correspondent Carmelito “Jun” David.

Following her stint with the Standard, Gigi was appointed Public Information Officer (PIO) of Caloocan City under Mayor Oscar Malapitan, then was named officer-in-charge of the city’s Cultural Affairs and Tourism Office until her passing.

Born September 16, 1963, Gigi was also a professor at the University of Caloocan City. She is survived by husband Jun and children Karlene Mae and Michael Papa; Karmelyn, Gian Carla and Allan Neyra; Aceline, JC and Jan Camille; and grandchildren Karl Papa, Gerald David, and Aly Neyra.Gigi also left behind siblings Joey Muñoz, Eng Cabardo, and Phine Lachica.
