Beginning today, model-turned-actor Gil Cuerva is off to a different adventure as he joins multi-hyphenate actress Solenn Heussaff in GMA News TV’s lifestyle show Taste Buddies.
A self-confessed foodie and travel enthusiast at heart, Gil is sure to add fun and new flavor to the program as its first-ever male co-host. See the other side of Gil as he shares with viewers insights about the food and activities he tries his hand at.
“What I can offer is some sort of a guy’s perspective and most importantly, make the show more relatable to that market, the male market. I want the guys who watch the show realize that they can also the stuff I do like they can say, ‘Oh I can cook this for my girlfriend or for my mom,” Gil shared with Manila Standard in an interview.
Having been a previous guest on the show, Gil looks forward to joining Solenn on Taste Buddies as they explore the best food destinations in the metro and all around the country.
“This is my first hosting project. In the past, I really enjoyed being a guest on Taste Buddies. Now that I am officially part of the show, I am excited to join Solenn in her adventures,” he added.
Together, Solenn and Gil live up to the tagline of the show, “Basta masarap, Go!” where they dish out fun activities and delicious meals every week.
“I’m happy that he’s my new co-host because he’s very easy to get along with. It’s nice to work with people like him,” Solenn said.
“Every year, for the past six years, we’ve been offering different flavors to our viewers and Taste Buddies has found its identity with a mix of lifestyle and the quirkiness of the people in show from Belle to Iya to Rhian and now Gil,” she added.
For her part, Solenn said having a male co-host is a breath of fresh air. “I’m sure having Gil in the show will really be fun. He will bring a new dynamic since he is a guy and I cannot wait for our adventures together. It will be an interesting mix and viewers should watch out for it,” she shares.
For his first episode as the new Taste Buddies co-host, Gil brings Solenn to Novotel Araneta’s Sabor Bar de Vinos. The two hosts enjoy a fine dining experience over savory Spanish tapas and extensive wine varieties.
At the same time, Solenn gets to know more about her new co-host as they play a fun Q & A game. Will Gil survive the ‘grilling’ of his new food buddy?
In an upcoming episode, Solenn and Gil will head on to Instagram-worthy restaurant Perry’s where they will jump into a food adventure and sample Perry’s specialty teas.
