Free caskets for NV poor, says Lantion

Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya”•Mayor Ralph Lantion of this town said free caskets are being given to the bereaved families in this town to uplift their condition.

“This is one of the major reasons why our town is being promoted as the happiest town in Nueva Vizcaya,” he said during the recent multi-sectoral forum on the Department of Energy’s “E-Power Mo” program.

Lantion said caskets worth up to P200,000, the most expensive kind, are given to the needy and poorest of the poor.

Close to 20 caskets, funded from various sources, have been distributed since the mayor’s term started in 2016. They are temporarily stocked at the back of the municipal gymnasium here.

“These are not ordinary caskets, that is why bereaved families are happy when we give these to them because they saved much expenses,” Lantion added.

The mayor’s monthly salary is also being given to more than 1,000 scholars of the local government, who are pursuing studies in various levels or schools in Bayombong town, he added. 

These programs are anchored on Lantion’s governance advocacy of Access to the Best Education, Health Care and Livelihood, he said. “‹
