New York City’s iconic Magnolia Bakery, known for its freshly baked cupcakes that were featured in an episode of the TV series “Sex and the City”, has snuck their way to Southeast Asia with its first branch at One Bonifacio High Street in Taguig City.

M Bakery will officially open on Aug. 22 to serve its signature banana pudding, cupcakes, pies, and cookies all wrapped around a floral pastel pink and teal package.

“With the passion Filipinos have for food – and particularly sweets – we are excited to be bringing Magnolia Bakery’s iconic bakery experience to the Philippines,” Steve Abrams, chief executive of Magnolia Bakery, said.

Magnolia Bakery opened its first branch in NYC’s West Village at Bleecker Street in 1996 and soon expanded, first around the US, before proliferating around the globe.

“I noticed that many Filipinos would take Magnolia Bakery cupcakes and other baked treats home to their friends and family. We are a country that enjoys our food, and I know that there will always be room for another great dessert place,” said Stewart Ong, managing partner of Phil Jacobe Ventures Inc., who decided to team up with M Bakery to bring the brand to the Philippines.

“With M Bakery, we are committed to sharing the same NYC experience with guests in Manila, making freshly baked desserts by hand in small batches, the live theatre of icing cakes and cupcakes and warm, inviting customer service. We look forward to celebrating life’s sweetest moments with patrons from around the Philippines,” Abrams said.

M Bakery features an open kitchen where the sugar-loving customers can see their handmade and carefully designed treats and as an addition, the confectionery would be adding more flavors to their famed banana puddings.

The dessert paradise will open at 2 p.m., bringing special treats for the first 100 customers. The first five people in line will get a large banana pudding every month for an entire year while the remaining 95, for a minimum purchase of P500, will get a complimentary small banana pudding.
