Congress has adopted the House Joint Resolution No. 24 seeking to extend the validity and availability of the fund for the Marcos human rights violations victims with the Land Bank of the Philippines.

Zambales Rep. Cheryl Deloso-Montalla, committee on human rights chairman, said the resolution authored by Bayan Muna Rep. Carlos Isagani Zarate also seeks to authorize the Commission on Human Rights to administer the distribution of the funds to qualified victims or their heirs or representatives until December 2019.

The extension shall amend Republic Act No. 10368 or the Human Rights Victims Reparation and Recognition Act of 2013, and RA 10766 or the law extending the life of the Human Rights Victims’ Claims Board.

RA 10368 created the HRVCB to resolve, evaluate, process and investigate applications, and approve claims for the reparation of human rights victims subject to the provisions.

At least P10 billion was allotted for the reparation of the human rights victims.
