Malacañang on Monday confirmed the second quarter survey of Social Weather Stations showing 72 percent of the Filipinos it polled were satisfied with the performance of President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration.

Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque welcomed the result and said SWS had described the 72 percent as a “very good” rating.

“The President remains focused with his promise to the Filipino people and he has rolled up his Barong to fight drugs, criminality, and corruption and bring a comfortable life to all Filipinos,” Roque said.

Out of the 1,200 respondents, 72 percent said they were satisfied with the performance of the government. Meanwhile, 13 percent of those polled maintained that they were dissatisfied with the government’s work and the remaining 15 expressed ambivalence on the matter.

Roque said the “very good” rating was due to the administration’s efforts to provide good services to the people.

“The President is the first to give free tuition to all state universities and colleges, free food to the youth, free Wi-Fi connection and free water,” Roque said.

He said the President was not done yet in giving the best services to the Filipinos.

“Those are the reasons why the public still gives the President a very good rating amid the criticisms,” Roque said. He said Duterte might push for a higher internal revenue allotment to the local governments.

Among those polled, the respondents from Mindanao gave the administration an “excellent” net rating, rising from 72 percent in the first quarter to 76 percent in the second quarter.

The administration’s net satisfaction rating remained “very good” in Balance Luzon and the Visayas, showing a four-point increase and a one- point decrease compared to the previous period, respectively.

In Metro Manila, the net rating of the government was down by 11 points, falling to “good.”

The latest survey was up by three points from the 69 percent acquired by the administration in March.
